We Should Be Able to Upgrade The Stats On Troops, Getting a Gold Level 5 From Camps Is Nice But Does Nothing For Older servers With Level 11 Troops.

I think they changed it so the idea was that mercs are for lower level players under the power of level 7+ troops, and from then on they are no longer required as you should be researching a broad strategy within your own race. This is how it seems to me anyway.

I can confirm dorian's theory, as I have a higher city level and I got T3 Gold units from the Elite Merc Camp. We shouldn't rely too much on camps as late game since they don't cater any upgrades.

All i ever use from merc camps is the silvers to decompose
Rest is fodder
Altho id love to get lvl 7 gold mounted archers...

It's still quite useful if you want to gamble your gold for a possible gold unit to disband for mithril or other rare resources.

I find it annoying how the merc camps never rank up, but you can find the units from merc camps available in the Linari shop for your current rank.
