[Guide] Picking your Kingdom

Thu Aug 24, 2017 9:18 am

Art of Conquest is a community driven game, it is best to try and get involved with a group planning to join a new server. Here are a list of things to consider when picking your kingdom.

The Map below has area's circled that are small cities which can be captured at early levels with no competition from other kingdoms.
Image

Skarn
Pros;
Easier to defend the level 14/15 areas.
All 3 rare resource are close the capital, meaning they respawn fast.
Closest Mithril: About 13hour respawn
Closest Crystal: About 10hour respawn
Closest Blood Diamond: About 19hour respawn

Cons;
It is directly connected to Hyral, meaning PvP for cities happens early level.
Only 6 free cities.
The closest (fastest to respawn) elixir is hidden behind a level 15 fog.

Hyral
Pros;
Easier to defend the level 14/15 areas.
Has a warehouse
Closest Mithril: About 13hour respawn (Vosa)
Closest Crystal: About 14hour respawn (Lurra)
Closest Blood Diamond: About 18hour respawn (Cresent)

Cons;
It is directly connected to Skarn, meaning PvP for cities happens early level.
Only 7 free cities.
No given city has elixir. (Ishnar or Herabe are closest)
Most likely to have Icarum and Skarn fighting them.

Icarum

Pros;
11 free cities.
2 elixirs. (Tiamont and Herabe)
Close to the 2 central areas.
Most likely to hold a warehouse in Dragonroost.
Easier to defend the level 14/15 areas.
Closest Mithril: About 13hour respawn (Ivytower)
Closest Crystal: About 19hour respawn (Culwood)
Closest Blood Diamond: About 21hour respawn (Scalden)

Cons;
Hyral will come knocking due to limited space.

Neferak

Pros;
11 free cities.
3x gold.
The white region, giving them the extra area to expand but will have to fight Athaly for it.
Early access to the Orc Chiefens.
Easier to defend the level 17 areas.
Closest Mithril: About 20hour respawn (Talon)
Closest Crystal: About 21hour respawn (Hurro)
Closest Blood Diamond: About 19hour respawn (Hearthbrad)

Cons;
Hated by most because it was the kingdom that everyone favoured and tended to take over the map because of it. (Subjective but thought it was worth a note)
Has only a mithril node in the free cities. The closest Crystal and Blood Diamond nodes are attached to Cities and can be contested by Athaly.

Athaly

Pros;
9 free cities.
Best chance of 5 rare resources from small cities (Davos and Faunvale), Neferak maybe able to contest.
3x wood.
Closest Kingdom to Kirinhal, Avonrock and Silver Court, the only 3 large cities that have Unit cap increase tiles which is important as you can couple it with Prince.
Close to the 2 central areas, which includes the white region.
Early access to Orc Chiefens.
Early access to the Wishing Pond.
The new flavourite to escape the hate of Neferak. (Subjective but thought it was worth a note)
Easier to defend the level 17 areas.
Closest Mithril: About 14hour respawn (Ravenfield)
Closest Crystal: About 19hour respawn (Starfall)
Closest Blood Diamond: About 12hour respawn (Calways)

Cons;
Most likely to have both Neferak and Dunwulf fighting them.

Dunwulf

Pros;
12 free cities.
2x warehouse.
Easier to defend the level 14/15 areas.
Closest Mithril: About 60hour respawn (Aras)(Possible Bug)
Closest Crystal: About 61hour respawn (Kebek)(Possible Bug)
Closest Blood Diamond: About 18hour respawn (Vashan)

Cons;
Skarn will come knocking due to limited space.

Thank you for this post !
I had the intention to do one similar, and that is the thing i explain to my housemat.

This map just shows how unbalanced it is as strating regions. HYRAL, DUNWULF and SKARN are so closed to each other.. whereas ATHALY and NEFERAK are isolated, and can expand easier.

Before migration update, when i checked many servers, it wasnt rare to see Athaly and Neferak ruling quite the entiere map...

I understand, it took a lot of work. Its not like many other guides in Captain Obvious-style.
I hope you will keep it up to date.

just because it is obvious to you, does not mean it is not helpful to someone with no experience at all. Don't be an elitist to those who give their time to help people mate.

@OP - great guide mate, look forward to the new version with the coming update.

As a longtime Dunwulf player I want to add 2 pros for picking Dunwulf as your kingdom:

  • Your resource market is inside your capital territory. Dunwulf is the only kingdom in which their respective market place is exclusive to them because other player can not reach it. This makes every market-rotation more profitable for you.
  • The Capital area is very centralized within the capturable cities nearby. A lot of caravans pass this starting area on their way to the destination city and are therefor protected from plundering on ~45% of their way.
