How are these obtainable in game?

Pretty sure a elite mercenary camp and im 90% sure the hero bane can enable you to train gold berserkers.

The hero bane does not let you train gold ones. Only silvers. Not even bronze. It's dumb and should be fixed.

so I am assuming unobtainable? how pointless.

If you will observe the unit card background, it indicates that it's in the human race (Blue/Teal) so it might be a possible expansion for units in the future.

Neutral (Blue)
Human (Blue/Teal)
Dwarf (Orange/Yellowish)
Lich (Purple)
Rakkan (Pinkish Red)
Sylph (Green)

they already have a commander that lets your recruit silver ones, so why not gold at max rank or something.

Maybe they don't want a commander to enable additional gold units because it might be unbalancing.

They should really add gold berzerkers would be great

Elena, virion and Avalon can all summon them on a battlefield in a fight. Balance for a skill like that can be in cost, they are mercenaries.
