Gotta disagree with Matrix. Hoping awakenings will encourage the appearance of other heroes for more interesting battles, instead of same ol' sets over and over, and Garrick and Xanos awakenings would just mean even more encounters with them, if that is even possible. At least there is no Zem awakening. Disclosure: I use Garrick because I got him early on and he has just sort of always been part of my party, but I don't use Xanos or Zem because I'm just kind of sick of them. Got a few awakening ideas to help spice up the PvP modes, which are the most interesting of the modes to me. I'll give disclosure on my use of each of the heroes I mention. Also I'm level 88 as of this posting, so readers have an idea of my game perspective.
I like Magdor's style and he is good at his role without being OP. Looking forward to what he might get with an awakening. I don't really want to make suggestions for him, though, because he is already so good for his role.
I'd like to see awakenings used as a balancing tool. Like, say, Enrique getting a boost to hypnotizing time based on the HP of his opponents (more HP = more sleeping time), or maybe sapping opponents of their energy, so as to help counter Zem. I hardly ever see Enrique, though I'm building him up with some spare resources to see what combinations might be good with him.
Or maybe Torsen, in all his dwarven toughness, would have an ability that prevents enemies from going past him, making his avatar essentially the back of battle from the opponent's perspective. Namtar, Tanja, Xanos, and others that flit past the front lines couldn't get past Torsen. Then, maybe as a further counter to Xanos, make Torsen gain HP from ongoing damage instead of losing HP. I don't currently use Torsen and haven't built him up, but I was trying to mention a shield bearer other than Magdor, and Torsen, being so defensively focused and also able to grow into a giant, seemed like a good candidate, and he is hardly ever seen in PvP.
Chronas, the special character for today, seems like a partial counter to Garrick, with the ability to pull him out of invisibility. So that's cool.
An awakened Flora that can charm all enemy summons when she uses her natural charm ability would help counter to summoner-heavy teams, providing some counter to Zem, Dokras, Mirielle, etc. I don't really use her, as I had a Jasmine early on.
An awakened Esabel that immediately decapitates Ezio and removes that annoying, battle-lengthening human flea from the entire game could... okay, maybe that is a little extreme. Awakening her could, though, give her the ability to to move faster on her mount (like how Dr. Zeno moves slower, except Esabel gets places faster), and maybe have an ability that deals a lot of extra damage to the first attack due to the initial charge, maybe even knocking the first foe to the back of the line and slowing them. Or since her ultimate is so pitiful maybe she could start the battle by using it. Mirielle begins the battle by AOE and slow, and that ability alone is better than Esabel's ultimate since Esabel can get hit and interrupted. She was my first hero summon that wasn't scripted, and I used Esabel often early in the game; I tried to keep her as powerful as I could, but despite being as maxxed as I can make her, now she is inferior in almost every way to her front-line compatriots.
Gizmo might be a good one to help counter summoners. His awakening could give him incendiary rounds for his special, easily blasting clumps of fighters which would be good for countering summons. And also the big metal machine needs to have more physical armor; poor guy built a big metal machine that gets picked apart by daggers way too easily. Tanja and her lady assassin friends (can't remember their names) go for the joints I guess. I used to use Gizmo more often but he is outclassed by others who fill the same glass cannon role; his special doesn't tear through foes anymore, and his other abilities are almost unnoticeable in battle.
I like Leon's style but the poor guy needs to stand behind Magdor, not in front. He gets beat up really quickly so his party buffs don't last long through the battle. There are a couple things that could be done for his awakening. One could be to allow him to have some sort of party buff effect upon his falling in battle, since that happens just about every time in an even battle. Alternatively, maybe he gets a second life, being resurrected once in battle and appearing in the back of the line so that he can march back up to the front of the battle while his companions do a little tanking. Or, as a counter to Cara (although she can be well-countered by summoners) and other "obliterate the tank" magic users, Leon's special could shield from magic damage and/or control abilities as well.
Well I'm out of time for brainstorming, but there it is. Some wild awakening ideas. Just want to encourage using them to add spice to the game, instead of buffing the already commonly used heroes so that they pound on all other heroes even harder.
