[GUIDE] Physical and Magical Team Synergy
Synergy: the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects.
Team synergy is an often overlooked consideration for team formation. It can be an important contributor to strengthening a team and in deciding which hero to add to complete a team. The contribution of synergy is to strengthen other heroes in the team, thus making the team stronger as a whole, or greater than the sum of its parts.
I have categorized team synergies into one of four groups:
1 and 3, the strengthenings help buff, or strengthen the attack abilities of your own team members. 2 and 4, the weakenings, affect the opposing team’s ability to withstand these respective attacks.
Note: This guide is derived from looking at each hero and clicking and reading each of the abilities. There are some “support” heroes whose main purpose is team synergy and many of the other heroes can make some contribution here. It does not include: Vernos, Baltor, Arcturus, Shirley, Crusher, Vespix, and a few newer, revenue required heroes.
Secondary notes: The numbers I use are approximate (from my own heroes) and are from high 80s to level 90 heroes, mostly orange fused. P = physical, M = magical, A = attack, Arm = armor
1 Physical strengthening
Gale: Has an aura that strengthens all the team members PA by 368.
Leon: Has an aura that strengthens all the team members PA by 368. (also see PWeakening)
Riley: Her ultimate increase the team PCrit by 92.
Ulfang: His first attack increases team PAtt (and MAtt) by 455. (Also see PWeakening)
Bloodspear: His ultimate increases P and M att by 920.
Sumiko: Her first attack increases one team member’s PAtt by 528. Her third att increases the team’s PCrit 88. (Level 86 stats)
Tholin: Att 3 increases team att speed 9%
Alana: Aura: Increase team PAtt 328.
Enrique: Att one increases one person’s attack speed.
2 Physical weakening
Drago: Decreases PArm by 92 (of team?) for 5 seconds
Leon: Aura: Decreases team PArm by 182 (note combined effect with his PStrengthening). Ultimate decreases team damage for each by 4650 (shield.
Leah: Third att decreases PArm by 182
Arachna: Third att if hit by a PAtt, will deal damage over time of 758 per second for 5 seconds.
Tanya: Second att decreases PArm of one hero by 101.
Ulfang: First att decreases team PArm 72.8
Gus: Att two and three pillar decreases PAtt 465. (Unclear if Gus is fully functional right now).
Cara: First att decreases hero’s PAtt 1860.
Alana: First att decrease one PArm 246.
Enrique: Aura: Increases team dodge 32.5 (L 67)
Namtar: Att 2 lowers team PAtt and MAtt stats
3 Magical strengthening
Osiris: Aura: Increase team MAtt 364.
Bloodspear: Ultimate increases MAtt by 920 (same for PAtt, so good on mixed team)
Alastair: Att 3 Increases MAtt of team by 360.
Mariana: Aura: Increase MCrit of team by 310
4 Magic weakening
Gale: Att 2 silences other team.
Serafine: Att 3 silences one and decrease MArm 184
Dokras: His hedgehogs have magic armor. He decrease magic damage on self.
Flora: Att 3 reduces magic damage to team 9.1 %.
Alastair: First att decreases MArm 180 for four seconds (of the person turned into a duck)
Lucius: Att 3 increases team MArm 166 (L80)
Dr. Zeno: Att 3 increases his team’s MArm.
Killjoy: Att 3 decreases one hero’s MArm, but increases the PAtt.
Namtar: Att 2 lowers team PAtt and MAtt stats
Selene: Att 3 decreases team MArm.
Sample teams built with synergy considerations:
Leon, Tholin, Leah, Alana, Gale
This is a team built to support Leah’s potent attack. Leon strengthens his team’s attack while weakening other team’s P Armor. Tholin brings two physical attack wolverines and hastens your team’s attack speed. Leah deals major damage to the entire team, reducing their physical armor and boosting her own attack with her ultimate. Gale strengthens everyone’s attack by 368.
Arachna, Osiris, Mortus, Dokras, Alastair
Note that magical synergy heroes number less than physical. Here, Arachna serves as a front line tank (especially when awakened). Osiris and Alastair increase everyone’s magic attack. Dokras has magic resistant hedgehogs and his ultimate hits multiple targets in the middle and back. Mortus is a strong magic hero that fits on many teams and is enhanced by the other’s abilities.
Team synergy should be one of the considerations when forming teams. It is likely not the primary or secondary consideration, but incorporating knowledge of synergy can improve your teams enough to make a difference in battles. For example, Leon may not survive to get off his ult and as survive as long as Drago, but he will increase all his team member attacks while making these attacks more effective.
