They won't nerf Viron - too many whales like to abuse how broken op he is.

Honestly i feel like the best fix is to get rid of loaned troops. Disallow them completely, only then can you reasonably balance the races.

Been at lvl 40 for 2 weeks now and am saving my building rush time for whenever higher tier castles are available. Still got a little bit of research to do but am close to maxed out for the troops i use - guess i can start doing research on cannons next.

I must admit that this event in particular disgusts me as well. This game has always had pay to win elements but it was never too bad ... now it seems to be changing.
